I love this. I've also had many rejections in 2023, but so encouraged by the fact that I was brave enough to try for the first time! So good to see that's your mindset too. Hope your story ends up in the world :)

Also, your cracks line harkens to a children's book (I believe it was the 2018 Caldecott winner) called After the Fall. I believe Dan Santat is the author/illustrator. :)
